I believe inspiration can strike from anywhere and anything. For me this time that anywhere was the festival of colours, HOLI! Holi marks the end of dark and chilly winters and the beginning of a season that’s full of colours and all things good. A season of love and an epitome of hope that good always triumphs the evil. The festival that makes you believe in a happy ending, that all good people deserve. So I wanted to create an outfit that represents the very essence of this one of a kind Indian festival.

So, with the strike of this incredible inspiration, I went on a quest through my wardrobe to find anything that could remotely bring out the essence of the festival of colours! But to my grand surprise I found just the accurate representation of it! A multicoloured, slightly shiny and textured maxi skirt that I had bought in 2019 from central mall in Bangalore. One look and I just knew this was the skirt I had to style this Holi.

But instead of styling it traditionally, i thought why not give it a contemporary touch? Why not make it a bit more modern and add a few elements of the western wear to create an airy Indowestern outfit? So I picked up my well pressed button up white shirt and quickly tucked it into the skirt. Rolled up the sleeves to make it a bit more chic and effortless.

At first I wanted to add classic Kundan and pearl jewellery to make it more Indian! Call it bad luck or whatever, the pearl necklace I choose snapped at the tie! But fashion as you know is all about being creative and spontaneous, so at the last minute I choose these contemporary western jewellery I had brought from Urbanic a while ago to pair with this outfit. To maintain the cohesiveness in the jewellery set, I put on more western jewellery, hoped into my most favourite party heels, grabbed a rose gold clutch and finally put on my most worn sunglasses to complete the look.

So that was about my Holi inspired contemporary Indian outfit. I hope you loved this outfit and will take inspiration to create your own version of it! If you do, then don’t forget to let me know. You can leave a picture in the comments below or tag me on Instagram. I am always looking forward to it but remember to make most of what you already have! With that I’ll take my leave, I’ll see you in my next one on Friday but until then take care my friend.
