To all my dearest girlies who like to go from western to Indian like drinking water, this one’s for you! To tell you honestly, I am more into western than I am into Indian, I mean for daily fits. And that’s where my expertise also like. I love mixing and matching to see what can be created and how I can wear it. Although I love Indian wear, there isn’t often much left to the imagination for practical fashion. If it’s occasional wear there are so many, many ways Indian wear can be experimented with to look like a goddess straight from the heaven. But for daily wear, where the outfit needs to be practical, there isn’t often much to do with styling. A kurta set is worn as a kurta set and a saree can be draped as a regular saree.

But the recent poll I conducted on YouTube Community Tab told me how much people love to wear Indian. And I myself love to wear Indian wear as well. So I sat down and had to stretch my imagination to kind of use these western elements to create an Indian outfit. You know, the kind of one that can be worn outside. The kind of one that is practical and reversible.

It’s then that I came across this dress on Little Box. This dress to me at first look, looked more like an Anarkali in western form. And I simply wanted to try and turn it into an Indian wear. So, I paired it with the most reasonable black leggings I had in my closet for this dress. I also happened to have a red shawl and a matching jutti, I had bought some where in 2023 to pair with this. I quickly put in all together to see how it comes together. To me it looked like a win for what the idea was. But the true essense of Indianness only came after I donned on my oxidised silver jewellery. It all came together like magic. And I loved it more and more.

To tell you honestly, I really learnt one thing from this whole experience. It’s true what they say! ‘Its not what you wear but how you wear it! So, that was a little about how I turned a western dress to Indian. Let me know if you try this outfit. Definitely tag me on Instagram I would love to see your version of Western to Indian! I will see you again, until then, stay healthy stay stylish!
