John Lennon famously said, “Life is what happens when you are busy making plans.” For the past three years of my life, I have come to experience this over and over again. We can make all the plans we want, write them in our journals, create a strategy and work on them. But things only happen when they have to happen. The story of how this outfit was styled and filmed pretty much sums up John’s quote! Like always I had created a solid plan for filming, editing and finally posting this outfit video and post by Friday the 29th of June. But the weather you see, had no plans of working with me on this one! And I wouldn’t blame the weather honestly. I made a big enough mistake of not considering weather changes while making my plans, and so the hide-and-seek the sun played with me is quite justified!
So, Someone from the team of Saree by Chirag reached out on Instagram for a potential collaboration. After going through their website and seeing their beautiful and unique collection of sarees I decided to collaborate with them. We discussed over a few sarees and finally decided to go with a saree from their Menaka collection.
At first I thought they would send me this saree in white colour. But when the saree finally arrived after a week, I was so glad that they sent one of their newer addition to collection.
The sheer quality of this almost mirror like organza saree, the subtle colouring, the beautiful hand painted florals, the delicate bordering just made me fall in love with it at first sight! It really was that mesmerizing. And I had never seen a saree in this colour that is almost a mix of light green and yellow. Beautiful to it’s very thread!
And what then, I absolutely had to work my best to bring out the chicness in this saree! So I took out my Ipad and started designing the blouse for it. I was so inspired by the florals in this saree that I wanted to add elements of nature to the blouse too. So once I was done with the Blouse, I went out to bring more organza fabric in the colour yellow, white, and green to make a garden for this blouse! Haha! I am kidding but I did wanted to make beautiful 3D florals to go on the strap of the blouse.
So I did just what I had envisioned. I carefully crafted flowers and leaves out the fabric one by one. Once I was done I placed them on the strap of the blouse and pinned it in place.
PRO TIP : When unable to find an under skirt in the same colour as the organza saree, match the colour of the under skirt to the colour of the lining of the blouse!
But then, when I actually wore it, I saw that it was so extra that it was taking the beauty of the saree away! The florals were good but it just wasn’t going well with the saree. There after it meant only one thing, I had to undo all the flowers and leaves. So I took them off and decided to keep the blouse just as simple as it was! It was then that the beauty of the saree was shining through and I was really happy with the look.
Now that I had the outfit ready, I went on a quest to buy some jewellery for it. This part was actually harder than the rest! I must have visited atleast 3 stores before I found these jewellery to pair with the saree. The beauty of this saree could only be bought out with delicate and elegant jewellery. So, I had to hop a few stores to find the right pieces and it was well, totally worth it!
All of this was ready by Wednesday. So I had two days to shoot the video and photos I needed before I went live with it. But happened so that the sun decided to play Hide and seek! So I had to shoot this entire video in parts! I shot the GRWM part in a day but what followed suit was three days of constant retakes! I decided to shoot the final shot outside with the blue sky as a contrasting background to the yellow saree. But it happened so that the gloomy weather, barely out sun, dark clouds and the strong wind made it impossible to shoot. So it took three days of constant retakes to finally get this video done!
Anyway! This video is now finally out and about for all you good people to watch, enjoy and recreate your versions of this saree styling! I hope you enjoyed this little story ‘hide and seek’ and fell in love with the saree just as much as I did. I’ll see you with yet another story but until then stay healthy and stay stylish! ❤️
