Every outfit that I have shared on this blog has a backstory. Although these stories are moments of my frustration, when I look back I find them interesting and sometimes funny. And one such story is the story of ‘One Long Search.’

Believe it or not, this neutral-tone organza saree that I bought from a local store has simply sat in my wardrobe for the past year and 7 months to be precise. It was before Diwali of 2021 that I bought this saree. It was two weeks before Diwali and I wanted to get myself an Organza saree. The sheer finesse and elegance of organza saree make it the perfect choice for Diwali Parties.

Affordable Amazon Organza Saree

The first time I ever saw an organza saree was when I was going through my mum’s saree wardrobe. And I saw this sheer grey borderless organza saree with delicate floral prints and I was wowed! Ever since then, I have wanted to get myself an organza saree too.

And when Diwali of 2021 came around, I was pretty clear that I wanted to get an organza saree. So with my mum, I went to a local saree store that had opened its second branch around the neighbourhood. I must have seen three sarees before I chose this one. The quality of the saree, the subtlety, and the embroidery made me fall in love with it instantly! Picking that saree was that quick. But it took me precisely 1 year and 7 months to wear it.

Worthy Collars

Once I came home and saw the saree blouse fabric, I was pretty clear that I have to style it differently. For understandable reasons, I didn’t think this light brown saree would match its light grey blouse fabric! So, I started one long search for a blouse that would match the elegance and beauty of the saree.

At first, I tried styling the saree with a white blouse and was clear that white isn’t the colour for this saree. I wanted a blouse that was the same colour as the saree, so I could bring out the beauty of the embroidered border. And for nearly one and a half years I kept searching for the blouse. I would search it online and I would search it offline. But nothing came close to what I was envisioning.

Some Elegant Jewellery

Finally, after 1 year and 7 months, I found this apricot-coloured crop top on Urbanic. This was also the time during which I found the fake embroidery collar randomly on Amazon.

The fake collar was my Ah-ha moment! It suddenly dawned on me that styling this saree with the fake collar and the apricot crop top I found on Urbanic would look awesome. And I placed an order for the two the very exact day from Bangalore!

But when I received the orders after I was back from Bangalore, I was a bit bummed to see that the blouse wasn’t the exact match to the saree! But since it was the closest to what I could find, I decided to take a leap of faith and give it a try.

I wore all the pieces of clothing and the jewellery and came down to give my mom a glimpse of the look. The glimmer in her eyes and the ‘wow’ smile she had on her face made it pretty clear that I had executed my idea well!

And then I obviously had to post it for your guys to see it. So I quickly filmed the video, edited it and posted it online.
