10 Tips To Look Stylish And Aesthetic

I see people spending a lot of money on fashion and apparel to look fashionable and aesthetic, but when it comes to putting an outfit together, despite the many branded pieces they own, people still struggle to look presentable. So today, I am Sharing ten easy tips to look stylish and aesthetic. (Watch this video)

1. Wear Wrinkle free clothes

My first tip for looking effortlessly aesthetic is to keep your clothes wrinkle-free. Pressing your clothes is one of the easiest things you can do to elevate your look. When you press your clothes, you instantly add a lot of finesse to an outfit. I also invest much in fabrics that don’t easily wrinkle. These are fabrics like knits, nylons, acrylics and polyesters that hold shape better than cotton, so they don’t need to be pressed as often and yet manage to look very expensive and highly polished.

2. Opt for proper fit

There is absolutely nothing more flattering than looking at a person in an outfit that looks as though it was tailor-made for them. Whether it’s a trouser, a blouse or a simple dress, it always looks more aesthetic and polished when they fit you perfectly. I love to wear tops and dresses that brace well at the waist as it makes some outfits look so much better, but it’s so rare to find clothes with a proper fit that I almost always have to get them tailored to fit.

3. Invest in basics

Invest in basics

My third tip of the 10 tips to look stylish and aesthetic and one of the most important of all is to invest in basics. Sure, it is great to have some variety in your wardrobe from now and then, but the more you invest in not-so-basic pieces, the more you’ll have to invest into looking aesthetic! And this is because aesthetics comes not just by wearing a piece of clothing but with the elements and accessories you choose to combine with them! You could wear a damn good dress, but if you accessorize poorly, you could mess with the aesthetics of the outfit. And that’s where the beauty of investing in basics lies. When you invest more into basics, you create more ways of combining these pieces to create outfits that are not only aesthetic but also pocket friendly.

4. Three or less colours

Outfit: Pink, blue & white // Outfit: Green & white // Outfit: Local

keeping the colours on your outfit to a minimum of three or fewer helps build outfits that are cohesive and put together. When you choose three colours and pick all the elements within the framework of those three colours you create an aesthetic outfit! Or you could choose two colours go for sandwich dressing which is taking one colour and sandwiching it in between another. This helps reduce the confusion of colours and maintain the overall aesthetics of an outfit. The third one is using just one colour, which is a no-brainer! You wear a monochromatic outfit using different shades of the same colour.

5. Accessories

If you want to look aesthetic, you have got to come out of this mindset that merely wearing a great outfit will help you achieve that. Accessories are the key to looking great. You can take basic pieces of clothing and jazz it up to something standout altogether, with just a couple of pieces of jewellery! I love combining my outfits with classic jewellery like golden hoops, chunky rings and ear cuffs. They add a lot of finesse and character to what you wear. I am also a big fan of classic pieces of timeless jewellery made of pearls and stones that give a definitive edge to an outfit.

6. Check on nails

The secret to remaining aesthetic is really in the details. And when you paint your nails the same colour as your outfit, it looks beautiful. To say the least! But not everyone has the time and patience to sit down and paint their nails every day. So, the best way to keep a check on your nails is to file them properly and then apply a layer or two of clear nail lacquer. It gives your nails extra lustre and shine and makes you look healthy and aesthetic. Alternatively, you could also paint them the same colour as your skin! This makes the nails look seamless and aesthetic. Given that they are so subtle they go with all outfits.

7. Hair & Makeup

My next tip is to give attention to hair and makeup! But when I say hair and makeup, I am not necessarily talking about a full face of makeup and hairdos that take hours and hours to fix, but rather things that help bring out your best features. And that could be as simple as keeping your hair clean or wearing a little bit of cheek tint and lipstick to give you a fresher, cleaner and woke look. These little things like brushing your hair or wearing a bit of makeup make it look like you put a lot of effort into looking great, but in reality, they are just basic things. I have written in detail about how to do one such make-up, click here to read.

8. Bags

Pairing outfits with the right bag can take them from 0 to 100 on a scale of 10! Like bags are that important! One of the tricks I usually use while picking a bag, unless I am going for a monochrome, is to go for a contrasting colour, which helps add a pop of colour to the outfit, which is transforming! And this is especially true when styling outfits of rare colours. To give you an example, this sea green dress which is beautiful on its own, would look way better when styled with a contrasting coloured bag rather than white or black.

9. Wear good shoes

Sneakers: Amazon // Boots: Amazon // Heels: Shein // Black flats: Allen Solly

It’s always really essential to keep some pieces in your wardrobe when it comes to footwear. A pair of white sneakers, black pumps and boots are staple and extremely useful. They go with so many outfits that you would never regret investing in them!

I have also come to understand that some outfits look better with heels. For example, midi-length dresses always look way better when you increase the distance between the dress and the floor by bringing more attention to your ankles. But if you aren’t comfortable in heels you can always trade them for pointed ballerinas, pointed mules or pointed loafers to maintain the aesthetics of an outfit.

10. Correct your posture
