Clean girl makeup

Here’s how to do the TikTok famous Clean Girl Makeup.

Hey Bestie! Have you also been wondering what is the Clean Girl Makeup? Over the years Tiktok has given us some major beauty goals and trends! But the one that’s going viral now is going viral for all the right reasons! It’s the Clean Girl Makeup look or the clean look as some might put it! This makeup trend first started going viral on Tiktok and then it soon took on YouTube! While some might say that this is a rebranding of the no-makeup makeup look, I see some clear distinction! What makes it different from the no makeup makeup is the sleek back hair bun that’s supermodel approved! Also while no makeup makeup is all about embracing the minimalistic side of makeup, the clean look is all about enhancing your natural beauty and making you look all glowy and juicy!

This Clean Girl Makeup makeup is something that I have been doing for years (less the sleek bun) and I am so glad to see that it’s finally a trend! I am all for the less is more beauty trends and this is just the right fit! So, here’s how to do the clean girl makeup that goes perfectly well for all occasions! Unless you are going to met Gala in which case this might not be of great help! Apart from that, you are good! Wear it to your college, your work, to the mall, picnic date or even a wedding! This is just too perfect for all occasions.

Skin Prep for the clean girl makeup

Ok, so the first step is the skincare part! But it’s pretty much known to everyone! You must prep your skin before makeup, whether or not you are doing a clean look. This is a compulsion. And that’s why I am not going to elaborate on this step. Go about with the usual steps of toning, serum, eye cream, moisturizer, sunscreen and finally a primer. Make sure to apply a primer to your skin before you begin your makeup this will help smoothen your skin. And if you want to do your eyebrows then this is the time for it! I usually like to do my eyebrows as a part of skincare. Once after all this is done, that’s when the real clean look routine begins.

How to get the clean girl makeup look ?

Step 1 : Colour Correction

So the first step is colour correction and I’m using the insights pro concealer palette. And this is done to neutralize pigmentations like dark circles, acne marks, and other unevenness on the skin. I have been binge-watching the k drama penthouse for the past few days and now I have to do two things, one colour correct my dark circles and two flush my head down the drain (the drama was too psychotic) but if you don’t have major dark circles then you can skip this step.

I am using the wet n wild small concealer brush to spread the pigment around my eyes to neutralize my dark circles and also around the corner of my mouth to neutralize the colour of smaller veins that are visible but if you don’t have any of them then you are lucky and you should skip this step. But if you have it then I feel you, sis! Just keep going.

Step 2 : Concealer

Now once you are done with colour correction the next step would be to hide the colour correction, Concealing! And I’m using the concealer by NY Bae in the shade caramel pretzel. It’s an inexpensive product but it delivers!! You don’t need a lot of concealer for this look, this whole makeup is all about embracing your flaws. So, don’t go about Concealing every single freckle on your face instead take a very small amount of the Concealer and concentrate it on areas that need correction.

And if there are big acne scars and blemishes that you want to hide then conceal them as well. Use a brush or your fingers, whatever you are comfortable with to blend your Concealer seamlessly into your skin. I like using a finger just under my eyes to blend the Concealer as the warmth of my fingers melts the Concealer slightly and gives a very natural finish.

Step 3 : Foundation

Once you are done with Concealing then it’s time to even out your skin tone with a foundation. I am using the foundation Maybelline fit me in shade 332. Now if you feel like foundation is a lot then alternatively you can use a cc cream as well which will give you fair coverage and a dewy finish.

I happen to have already created a similar look before using the Lakme cc cream in my video ‘the only makeup products you need‘ and so I am using the foundation for this look but in fair opinion the kind of product you should use depends on the kind of coverage you need if you’re not looking for a lot of coverage and only aim at evening your skin tone then a tinted moisturizer or a BB cream will be perfect for you, if you want a little bit of more coverage then try using a CC cream, they are very good and will give a fair amount of coverage, if you feel like you need a little bit more than that then you can try mixing your concealer with your CC cream but if you need more coverage, then a foundation might be the best for you.

The one I’m using today gives medium coverage and since it’s very close to my skin tone it will also give a natural finish when you use it in small amounts which is what we want for the clean girl makeup. Whatever you choose to use, whether it’s a BB cream, a CC cream or a foundation, make sure to use a small amount of the product and the one that’s the closest to your skin tone. When you use a small amount of the product that’s close to your complexion, you’ll be able to achieve a natural finish.

Step 4 : Setting Powder

step 4 is setting the base makeup and I’m using the banana powder by sugar cosmetics. There’s no need to bake or anything for this look because I don’t think baking looks natural! Especially in person, It doesn’t look natural at all!

So instead what you can do is take a little bit of that good banana powder and just dust it under my eyes and over your nose to brighten it up a little bit. I usually like to first set the areas that I applied concealer onto to prevent caking and creasing and then I go about setting the rest of my face using a powder puff as it’s much faster and sets the makeup well. Believe me, when I say this, setting your base makeup is the deciding factor on how long your makeup is going to last! It is a very crucial step. If you want your makeup to last longer then setting it well, will surely help.

One thing to keep in mind though is that you tap the powder puff on the skin rather than rubbing it on your face as it would just move the foundation and concealer away. So, Always and always tap your makeup products on the skin.

Step 5 : Contour

Contouring is very important and I’m using the mini bronzer by sugar in the shade 02 woody wonder. I love contouring but I don’t like using cream contour as I feel like bronzer is much lighter and more natural which is perfect for the clean girl makeup. I usually apply the bronzer just under my jawline to make it look more structured and sharp and also under the prominence of my cheekbones. This will structure your face and will make you look sculpted. When contouring use a bronzer always and always brush it towards the hairline so it looks natural and there is no distinction

Step 6 : Eye Shadow

Next is eye shadow and I’m using my all-time favourite neutral palette by swiss beauty the shade of colour I’m using for this look is more of a peach-ish brown colour.

For this particular look, the eyeshadow especially will change based on your complexion. My complexion is neither too fair nor too tan it’s somewhere in between and the colour I’m using is something that compliments my skin tone the best. My recommendation is that if you are a person with a lighter and cooler skin tone then go for lighter pink to peach shade, if you have a similar skin tone as mine then go for the orangish peach to peach-ish brown shade and if you are a person of colour and are more towards warmer skin tone then go for brownish shades. On a general note, if you’re confused on what colour to choose then just aim at an eyeshadow that’s a shade or two darker than your skin tone.

Once the primary colour is applied I usually apply a lighter eyeshadow on the bony prominence under my eyebrows to kind of highlight it and then I’ll just blend the two colours using a fluffy brush. Finally, take a little bit of that shimmery eyeshadow and apply it to the inner corner of your eyes to highlight it. Also, don’t forget to apply the primary eyeshadow on the lower lids, a lot of people forget to do this but It’s completely game-changing.

Step 7 : Eyeliner

Step seven is lining your eyes and I’m using the Maybelline colossal bold eyeliner. You can use a gel eyeliner as well but I feel more comfortable using liquid eyeliner and so I am using a liquid eyeliner. Choose what’s best for you. For this particular look, you want to keep the eyeliner as thin as possible so that it doesn’t appear like you have lined your eyes but what that thin line will do is it will make your lash line look more defined and you won’t look sleepy or sick. If you make a mistake here don’t fret just take a q-tip and correct it. It’s not a big deal it’s eyeliner!

Step 8 : Lash Curling

Next is curling your lashes and I’m using the vega eyelash curler. I know some of you might be like what difference will that make?! I’ll just straight away apply my mascara.! You can surely do that. But in makeup, even a slight thing could make a lot of difference. When you curl your lashes, your eyes will open up and look bigger which in turn will make you look fresh and bright.

Step 9 : Mascara

step nine is mascara and I’m using the magnet eyes mascara by Faces Canada. You don’t want to go too dramatic here, remember this is a clean look. I usually apply about two to three coats of mascara on the upper lashes and just a single or maybe two at max on the lower lashes. You want to apply just enough to make your lashes look prominent, you don’t want your lashes to look like you are carrying an ant trail on your eyes! So keep it minimal and natural for the Clean Girl Makeup.

Step 10 : Blush

The next step is applying a blusher and I’m using the pro blush and highlight palette by swiss beauty. I love this palette, it has a colour for every occasion and the colour I’m using today is a pinkish peach shade. Again this depends on your complexion. Choose a colour that’s more natural on your complexion. The best way to find what colour suits your skin is just by observing the colour of your cheeks when you naturally blush. That’s the colour for you. But if you want to be a little experimental then try different nude shades and pink shades to find what suits you the best.

Step 11 : Highlight

After blush is highlighter and I’m using the mini highlighter palette by swiss beauty. Now you can use your brush if you want to but I like using my fingers to apply highlighter as I feel there is more control over where I want to place my highlighter. What I like to do is place the highlighter on the prominent bone just under my eyes and then slightly curve it up towards the tail of my eyebrows, this creates an arc of highlighter that’s very natural and flattering.

I also place a bit of highlight on the prominence of my eyebrow bone and also on the bridge of my nose and the tip of my nose so when the light hits my face it just looks naturally glowy and dewy. No matter which steps to choose to skip just don’t skip this step as this is the most important step in clear girl makeup. You want to look all glowy, dewy and glossy.

Step 12 : Lip Tint

Next is lip tints and I’m using the water fit tint by face shop in the shade picnic red. This tint is highly pigmented. So, I recommend using a brush to apply a very thin layer of tint on the lips for a more natural look. You can use your fingers to spread the pigment too, but it’s a bit tricky and you might end up having your lips look patchy red. So, I recommend using a brush to apply the lip tint.

Step 13 : Lip Lacquer

Step 13 is applying a lip lacquer. I don’t have a lip lacquer. So I’m using a clear lip gloss that came with one of the liquid lipsticks by sugar. It’s in the shade clear gloss 00. Apply one or two coats of this and you’ll just see what a difference it makes to the whole look. Again don’t miss out on this step! This is also a very important step in the clear girl makeup look. Your lips should look like you just put your mouth in honey! Glossy and juicy.

Step 14 : Setting Spray

Lastly, just spray on some setting spray. This will make your makeup last longer and will not be easily transferable. You can easily go 8 to 9 hours with this makeup with a slight retouch now and then.

That’s it, that’s the clean girl makeup that enhances your natural beauty and honours your flaws. Isn’t this makeup so clean and gorgeous? I’m obsessed with this look. Do wear this out on your next brunch date and be showered with wonderful compliments!
