Well, we all wore it once at least! Let’s be honest. Low rise jeans that did no one any good? Nope?! Alright.

Well, the list doesn’t end here. Several things that once were considered fashionable are no longer in the run for style. They came suddenly into our lives possibly with a pop icon or a star flaunting them and then died down slowly in silence. With fast fashion today it’s so easy to buy and stock up things. And the next thing you know the trend is gone by the time you even decide to wear it!
And that’s exactly why you need to know these 4 Insanely simple things you can do today to stay in fashion forever!

1. Colours

Now I don’t know for how long things like mandala prints, newspaper prints or block prints are here to stay! I am not a fortune teller. But I know for sure that these prints will eventually go dead. One of the things that will surely stay in fashion is solid colours. Whether it’s a top, a shirt, skirt or other bottoms. Solid colours will always stay in fashion. Style them well and you’ll see how transformative they can be. And talking about solid colours, there are also a few colours that are ever stylish. White, black, brown, beige, pink, darker shades of blue are ever-fashionable. While colours like neon may be trendy at a time. They will eventually die down in popularity. So the next time you shop you may want to stock up some solid colour clothing.

2. Prints

I know I might have sounded a little dramatic when I said prints don’t stay in fashion for long. But I don’t hate prints. As an avid fashion follower, I love a good old plaid print. And I would probably trade a couple of solid colours for plaids. Because they are timeless classics!

Just like plaids, there are also a couple of other prints that are here to stay for the long run for sure. Take for example the polka dots, they are so fashionable. I cannot imagine someone wearing a white and black polka dot dress, black shades, walking in red pumps being called old fashioned. Things like that will stay in fashion no matter what. Also, the timeless leopard print, the evergreen stripes are some of the other examples of classic prints that will always be loved by the fashion gods. Keep this in mind the next time you are going on a haul and you won’t go wrong in bringing the A-game home. These prints were fashionable 20 years ago, they are fashionable still. And I bet they will be fashionable 20 years from now too. And that’s exactly why it’s worth investing in some classic prints.

3. Fabric

I don’t want to sound like a brat here complaining about things but I remember buying two H&M black cotton trousers at the same time and then immediately regretting the decision after the first wash. The trousers lost colour and that element of new was nowhere to be found. They looked like old, highly worn-out and faded black jeans! And that’s when I learned that being a little mindful while buying would help long term and maybe being a little mindful about how to care for your fabrics too but let’s talk about the first one.

Even as little as choosing the right fabric will decide whether or not you’ll be shopping for something similar in a few days. Some fabrics are built to lose colour and texture over time. Like I said because cotton naturally loses colour over time, so for someone who is minimalistic and values durability, going for a different fabric is probably the best option. Polyester, rib knits and denim material are great for when you value durability.

4. Accessories

When it comes to fashion, accessories are just as important! Something as simple as a belt could completely transform the look. But not all accessories will stand the test of time. Do they?! I have a few chokers sitting in my drawer never to be seen by the light of the day! Accessories like chokers, hand and leg warmers are the talk of the past. But there are a few accessories that still stand tall when there is a question of fashion. I mean have you ever seen someone wearing a French beret and thinking, ‘Man! They are so old fashioned!’ (unless they are not wearing it right!). Scarfs for the love of God! Fashionable, Really fashionable. And given their versatility, you will never be bored of wearing them! Classic jewellery pieces, that bring an outfit together like a lost memory, Golden! Black pumps. Ever fashionable, Period.

So you now know that you don’t have to break your bank to look fashionable. Keep in mind these 4 Insanely simple things while you shop and you could look fashionable for years to come.
